Little Things I don't Want to Forget

This morning my little Colie Olie woke up at 2:30am and never went back to sleep until naptime at 10:30. We ended up just sitting on the floor watching TV all the wee hours of the morning. For a while he was playing with my hair and eventually stole the hair band from my hair. After he played with it for a while he came back over to me and put it back on top of my head. It kept falling off and he kept putting it back on. It was so cute.

Later, after their naps and while they were having a pb&j sandwich, the three of us starting running in place. That's something Nolan has been doing for a while but Colvin just figured it out.

Nolan was watching a cartoon with the cookie monster and it made him crack up. I love those giggles.

We've been trying to teach the boys the names of some of their body parts but I hadn't done any of that today. Colvin just walked into the room with his finger in his belly button and, out of the blue, said belly button for the first time. Too cute.

They are playing together in the other room and I don't know what's so funny but they are both just giggling like crazy.

The boys got new matching blinking shoes. They were so cute stomping around the house in them.

Howling

I had to share something cute. The last few nights before bedtime we have been having, as a family, a yelling fest. We all pose and scream our little brains out. That may seem strange but the boys think it's so fun. Nolan does a kind of bodybuilder muscle squeeze while he yells and Colvin just stands there and squeals. Nolan's voice is so deep and Colvin's is much higher pitched. Tonight I decided to start howling too. Colvin stuck up his little chin and howled like he'd been doing it all his life. He was a little pro. I will have to see if I can get a video of them.

18 months

Can you believe that the boys are 18 months old already? My mom and I took them for their shots today. Colvin was pretty good; he's had lots of practice in doctors' offices. :( Nolan decided to demonstrate that he's getting closer and closer to 2 years old. Maybe he was just hungry or tired. I did have to wake them up early from their naps and it was past lunch time. Colvin did something so cute that I haven't seen him do before. Nolan was shredding the paper on top of the exam table and Colvin picked up each piece and carried it to the trash can and threw them all away. He also started building with his mega blocks today instead of just destroying. Colvin was 25.5 pounds and Nolan was 30.5 pounds. I don't think they got an accurate measurement of their lengths since the boys were being so squirmy. I'll have to recheck that later. Colvin was in the 50th percentile for everything and Nolan was in the 90+ percentile. Here's a few pics that my parents took yesterday while they watched the boys so that Mark and I could go to a movie. Thanks Mom and Dad!!!

Some more pics...

Well, I think the boys are finally feeling better after a week of having nasty colds. They've been in the other room playing in the tunnels under their big fort. They are so cute together, wrestling and talking (babbling) to each other. They are saying so many more words now. They turned 18 months old on Sunday. Colvin pointed to his nose yesterday and said "nose". He'll also point at his ears and his belly button when I ask where they are. Of course he won't do that if I try to show someone else how he can do it. They had a nice week of having Bodie here for a visit while my parents were back in Indiana to say goodbye to a wonderful man, my Uncle Ronnie. He is finally whole and comfortable, walking with God. The boys were mostly gentle with Bodie and called him Baby. It was cute. They even started calling the cat Baby and they will say Baby when they see pictures of themselves. It's just starting to get somewhat bearable in the early morning so we've been going for little strolls in the wagon. The boys love to go for rides.

I bought a couple Halloween costumes but they didn't go over too well. I'll take those back and see what else I can find. They were supposed to be up to age 3 but this is even tight on Colvin.

Nolan and Colvin, aka Turtle and Pumpkin - almost.

Nolan thinking, "Please don't make me wear this."

Lots of wrestling going on lately. Colvin pushes Nolan down and then jumps on top of him.

Nolan was sporting a little plumber's crack. I think Colvin tried to use Nolan's diaper to climb up behind him.

Colvin and Nolan got an early Christmas present, an El*mo kitchen. They like to push it over or climb on top of it. All the accessories get thrown on the floor in my kitchen.

Nolan. It looked easier when Colvin did it.

Nolan was helping Grandma give me a back massage. Right before my dad grabbed the camera, Colvin was sitting on my head trying to help too. All the cutest stuff happens right before you find the camera.

More wrestling.

Ghetto baby Colvin.

Does it hurt when I do that?

I think Colvin was trying to break dance.

Mark and the boys playing with the kitchen.

I tried to tell Nolan that "The Traveler's Wife" was probably a little too advanced for him, but he likes to live dangerously.
My little reader.

Grandpa and my boys. I think this is the best pictures of my dad that I've seen in a long time. Think grandbabies suit him? ;) Note that there are no longer partially painted walls in the background. Woo hoo!

Today my mom helped me hang some new curtains to replace the vertical blinds that the boys took down, one slat at a time until there weren't any more. The boys slept for almost 4 hours today so they had lots of energy when they came down and found this ladder. Colvin went straight over and started climbing like he's been doing it for months. Nolan was more interested in playing under the curtains.

Colvin finally convinced Nolan to try it too. He's just not quite as adventurous as Colvin is.

Pretty soon they were both up there.

And at the top.

Nolan chillin' on the couch.

Hi Mom.

There's his cute smile!

I came downstairs yesterday and they were sitting together in one of their little papasan chairs. Of course, by the time I grabbed the camera they were in a hurry to get out of the chair.

Colvin was mewing at Chipetto. Now both boys like to do it.

She's starting to get a little irritated.

And attack! This was quickly followed by a swift pillow that sent her to the floor.

Yup, that's what I figured would happen.
